JUST TO LAUGH...

After home renovations, we were left with various building materials – not enough to offer for sale, too cumbersome for the rubbish bin but sure to get in the way if left around the yard. Not being a great handyman, I had no use for these things but realized someone might, so I placed the material outside our house with a sign saying “Take Me, I am yours.” Two days later, the handyman’s treasure was still there but someone had taken the sign.

The following exchange took place between the lawyer and the witness of an accident.
The lawyer: “Did you actually see the accident?”
The witness: “Yes, Sir.”
The lawyer: “How far away were you when the accident happened?”
The witness: “Thirty-one feet, six-and-one-quarter inches.”
The lawyer (thinking he’d trap the witness: “Well, sir, will you tell the jury how you knew it was exactly that distance?”
The witness: “Because when the accident happened, I took out a tape and measured it. I knew some stupid lawyer would ask me that question.”

Two cab drivers met. “Hey,” asked one, “what’s the idea of painting one side of your cab red and other side blue?”
“Well,” the other responded, when I get into an accident, you should see how all the witnesses contradict each other.

A good laughter a day keeps the doctor away. It is the simplest way to enhance one’s quality of life. On 4 May 2009 many groups across the globe marked the World Laughter Day, a concept that germinated in India. What makes laughter and sense of humor such a boon?
· A laugh burns 3.5 calories.
· Laughter stimulates heart and lungs, and enhances the respiratory system.
· Laughter causes release of endorphins, which give the body a ‘high’ during exercise.
· Laughter lowers the cortisol level in the body, thus enhancing immunity.
· Twenty seconds of intense laughing yields health benefits equivalent to 10 minutes of rowing.
· Laughter boosts pain tolerance; many foreign cancer centers offer humor therapy.
· Laughter reduces inflammation.

OMEGA - 3 FATTY ACIDS

Omega – 3 fatty acids are long – chain ply unsaturated fatty acids which increase the fluidity of membranes. Once the membranes function in a normal manner, there is proper cell to cell communication. Omega – 3 fatty acids are found in flax seeds, walnuts and soybeans besides fatty fishes like salmon. The benefits of these fatty acids are : increase the volume of brain grey matter associated with mood and regulation of emotions; check the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease; boost cognitive functions in elderly people; improve osteoarthritis, protect against prostate and breast cancer; keep the blood in fluid condition; inhibit thickening of arteries; strengthen immune system; prevent sudden death of an individual.

MEMO FROM NARA

I usually get the fodder for my writing from various sources. Books, magazines, newspapers, scientific journals are the few to mention. Moreover my travel to various places, meetings with men and women, and imaginations are also providing the valuable materials for my thought and then writings. In fact, my writings are read by only certain people who have an aptitude to agree with my ideas and interests. Many others in deed go through by scanning my writings without properly reading them. I read my writings again and again and feel immense pleasure. Sometimes I do feel whether the pieces are written really by me or not. In fact, writing is a pleasure, that too with a pen of our choice on a white sheet of paper. Transferring those writings into the computer is another opportunity to read it again and correct spelling and sentence structures. Writings generally give concentration on a particular subject and also the in-depth knowledge about the subject. I realized it very late in my life. Still I feel it is worth to write for me and others. My blogs are the good vehicles to carry my writings to the world. They are open to all. I do get comments from some who do not agree with me. If I don’t get comments, then I presume there are people who agree with me. My views are normally moderate with hopes for a better future. I do not fight with my ideas because I want peace, patience and understanding to find solutions to problems. Displaying our desire through writing is one of the best ways of expressing our thoughts. Sharing our knowledge free of charge with others is the main purpose of education either in schools or colleges or universities or even outside. We are generally ignorant of many things which have to be learnt from others who may be older or younger than us. No shame! Knowledge has no boundaries and it can not be hidden. It is a open book to all. Anyone can read it and get benefited. That is why I share my knowledge with you all with a full hope that at least some will help you when you are in need.

PROBIOTICS

Probiotics (Healthy Bacteria) are ‘live’ micro-organisms, which when administered in adequate amounts; confer a health benefit on the host. The resident bacteria (also called commensals) help guard the body against pathogenic bacteria. Lactobacillus is one of the widely studied probiotics which present the adhesion and growth of urinary and intestinal pathogens and produce high concentration of hydrogen peroxide and lover the pH of the intestine, making it inhospitable for the harmful bacteria. Probiotics improve absorption of nutrients, improve synthesis of vitamins and essential fatty acids and also prevent some bacterial and yeast infections. Curd, pickles and butter are good sources of probiotics.

JUST TO LAUGH...

Mr. Rao: U cheated me.
Shopkeeper: No, I sold a good radio to u.
Mr.Rao: Radio label shows Made in Japan but radio says this is All India Radio!

In an interview, Interviewer: How does an electric motor run?
John: Dhhuuuurrrrrrrrrr.. ....
Interviewer shouts: Stop it.
John: Dhhuurrrr dhup dhup dhup....

A train which was running on the rail tracks took a sudden deviation towards the fields nearby before veering back on track. The passengers were horrified. At the next railway station, the driver was caught. He was questioned. He explained that there was a man standing on the tracks and he would not move despite all the honking to warm him. “Are you mad?” the authorities questioned, “Just to save the life of one person, you endangered so many lives. You should have run him over.” Said the driver: “That is what I decided, but this idiot started running towards the field, and so…”

A waiter in a big restaurant was suddenly taken ill and rushed to hospital. On the operative-table, in great pain, waiting for attention, he saw a houseman passing by, and pleaded. ‘Doctor, I’m ill. Can’t you do something?” ‘Sorry,’ the doctor said. ‘This isn’t my table.’

GOOD ADVICES

Live a comfortable life, not a wasteful one.
Do not spend to impress others.
Do not live life trying to fool yourself into thinking wealth is measured in material objectives.
Manage your money wisely, so your money does not manage you.
Always live well below your means

INSPIRING OTHERS

Have you ever looked up to someone or admired something about another person that really inspired you? Well, there are certain qualities about a person’s character that enable them to inspire others, and there are steps you can take to awaken these same qualities in yourself. Here’s how:
Inspiring others isn’t easy. The success rate of those who attempt to inspire is incredibly low when the measurement of success is based on the percentage inspired as opposed to the actual number inspired. Huge motivational seminars with thousands of attendees typically make a real lasting impact in only a few people’s lives. If you look at those same odds for yourself, you might easily be discouraged if you hope to inspire others by doing something you don’t truly love to do. If, however, you do love something dearly, you won’t care how successful you are at inspiring others and you will continue to persevere (on many levels) no matter how many times you fail. When people doubt you, and when people laugh at your failures, you will continue to do what you love because you love it. So having that depth, that love and passion for something, will protect you from all potential failures.
Will you make the most of failures and continue to drive your passions? Will you inspire others even when you don’t succeed at first? What do you love? Once you establish a foundation for which you have great passion, start thinking big. How many people could you potentially inspire based on your niche of expertise? Are there ways you can expand your impact? Don’t look to inspire one person, look to inspire hundreds! Remember, this goes back to the low success rate percentages, as you will likely not succeed with working to inspire at a very small level. You need to think big and have many people available to inspire. Fifty people out of a thousand is only five percent, but it’s still fifty people. Share your ideas with as many people as possible and allow them grow your influence beyond your initial ideas for inspiration.
Thinking big is not only about inspiring more people, but also about the
impact you have on each person. Don’t settle on making minor changes in a person’s life if they need a total makeover. Instead, aim to change everything. Look to inspire in many areas instead of just one. Think big about the positive impact you might have and this will give you a much better chance of leaving some kind of impression. If you promote a hundred ways for someone to change or heal and they take on just one, you have still helped them! Passion is something you must have and be willing to express it if you really want to inspire others. You can gain a lot of influence just by publicly expressing that you are excited and passionate about a topic. You make it much harder to inspire others if you are boring an unenthusiastic.

REVIVAL OF FRIENDSHIP

Try getting in touch with friends whom you have not seen for a while. Revive relations with old pals, distant relatives and acquaintances. Research indicates that you have better chances of coming across good opportunities through people outside your close circle. This is so because these people are probably more appropriate. Often you go to the easiest contact i.e. a person very well known to you when you need some help, but he may not be well positioned to help you out. Expand your reach a little further may be to the friends of your friends you will find a more appropriate person to contact and achieve what you want. It is also a law of numbers. The number of close acquaintances you have is always limited. But if you start linking to people who are not so close you are going to campaign on a much larger scale and your odds of success greatly improve.

READING

Reading is one of the best ways to improve all of your brain’s many functions. It increases the number of active cells in your brain, the more connections you have between neurons, the active cells of the nervous system. When you read, you make use of parts of the brain that you don’t rely on for other activities. You have to connect words to sentences to paragraphs and then put it all in context.

Any kind of reading is helpful. Even light reading can exercise your mind and improve your memory skills. So skim the morning’s headlines in your favorite newspaper. At night, peruse a few chapters of a good novel, a biography, or even a joke book.

What to retain more of what you read? Take a break every 20 or 30 minutes to ask yourself questions about what you’ve just read. The more you reflect on the material, the more likely it will stick with you.

It’s the result, not the research that counts the most for the human society!
