NUMBER 2
To begin, it is helpful to define what is meant by "science" and "spiritualism". Science is often thought of as the study of the physical world around us, using empirical evidence and repeatable experiments to gain an understanding of how things work. Spiritualism, on the other hand, is often associated with religious, mystical, or metaphysical beliefs or experiences, exploring the deeper meaning of existence beyond the physical realm. These two perspectives are often seen as fundamentally different and sometimes even in conflict with each other.
However, both science and spiritualism share a common
goal: to uncover truth and meaning in the world around us. While science may
use empirical evidence and rigorous methodology, spiritualism may rely on
intuition, revelation, and personal experience. These different approaches both
seek to make sense of the world and our place within it, and to uncover the
fundamental truths that underlie our existence.
Moreover, science and spiritualism often share common
philosophical principles such as the interconnectedness of all things, the
importance of balance and harmony, and the need to consider the spiritual or
metaphysical aspects of the universe alongside the physical. In fact, many
spiritual traditions – such as Buddhism and Taoism – have long recognized the
interconnectedness of all things, and the importance of living in harmony with
the natural world. Such beliefs find resonance in modern scientific theories,
such as the ecological systems theory, which emphasizes the interdependence of
living organisms and ecosystems.
Furthermore, some scientists argue that their work can
actually bring us closer to understanding spiritual truths. For example, research
on the brain and consciousness has shed light on the complex workings of the
mind, and has led some scientists to speculate about the nature of the soul or
the existence of higher
dimensions. Similarly, quantum physics – which studies the smallest particles
in the universe – has led some physicists to wonder whether there might be a
deeper spiritual dimension underlying the physical world.
At the same time, there are those in the spiritual
community who see science as a way of validating their beliefs. The discovery
of the Big Bang, for example, is seen by some as corresponding with the
spiritual notion of creation, while research on near-death experiences has
provided evidence to support beliefs in an afterlife.
In fact, it is perhaps the case that the greatest
overlap between science and spiritualism can be found in the realm of personal
experience. Both scientists and spiritual practitioners often emphasize the
importance of direct experience in gaining knowledge and understanding of our
world. For some, this may take the form of a mystical experience, while for
others it might be a moment of profound scientific discovery. In either case,
the emphasis is on encountering the world in a way that transcends everyday
experience and leads to a deeper understanding of our existence.
While it is true that there are certainly conflicts
between science and spiritualism – such as disputes over the validity of
certain beliefs or the ethics of particular practices – it is also true that
these conflicts are far from insurmountable. By recognizing the fundamental
similarities between these two perspectives and working to bridge gaps in
understanding, we may be able to gain a deeper appreciation of the world around
us and of our place within it.
In conclusion, while science
and spiritualism may at first appear to be fundamentally different, upon closer
examination it becomes increasingly clear that these two fields are not
necessarily contradictory. Both seek to uncover fundamental truths about the
world around us, and both emphasize the importance of direct experience in
gaining knowledge and understanding. By acknowledging the commonalities between
these two perspectives and working to find common ground, we may be able to
gain a deeper appreciation of the world around us and of our place within it.
Retirement is not the end but is merely the beginning of a new life, a new you. As such, it is nothing that should be dreaded or something that should cause you unnecessary stress. Instead it should make you happy and can bring you a new sense of pleasure, if only you let it. In this article, we’ll discuss ten ways that you can find happiness in retirement.
1. Be open and receptive
– Change your attitude and you’ll change your life. Retirement is simply a new
phase of your life one that you can succeed and enjoy if you’re open and
receptive to doing so. It is a time to pursue your dreams, aspirations and make
your dreams come true.
2. Plan physical and
mental activities – A busy mind is a happy mind. By staying physically and
mentally active, you will lift your spirits and will be happier.
3. Laugh and have a fun
time. Don’t take yourself so seriously. By having fun and not taking life too
seriously, you can lift your mood and make yourself and others happy.
4. Don’t be too
introverted. Share your burdens with those who love and care about you. This
isn’t to say that you should be a worry wart but by revealing your innermost
thoughts and feelings, you can positively affect your mental state.
5. Pursue stimulating
activities. Figure out the things that you enjoy doing and do more of them. For
instance, if you enjoy spending quality time with your grandchildren, plan plays
dates or other activities with them.
6. Brush up your
knowledge – An educated mind is a happy mind. By expanding your learning
horizons, you can become happier.
7. Spend quality time
with loved ones – Now that you’re retired, you have even more time to spend
with those you love. Plan lunch dates or throw a party for family and friends
so that you can spend quality time with the people that mean the most to you.
8. Remember the little
things mean a lot – Do something nice for someone and you’ll feel good about you.
Take some time to write someone a note telling them how much they mean to you.
Spend time with a friend or ailing relative or engage in some type of volunteer
activity.
9. Fulfill your dreams –
Consider fulfilling those dreams you had shelved on your way to building a
career for yourself. This can be very satisfying.
10. Maintain a positive mental attitude – Do not vegetate
just because you have retired. This is the fastest way to breakdown. Maintain a
youthful attitude. Take up some hobby and remain active, mentally and
physically. - Cynthia Barnett
1. Make
your bed every morning.
2. Observe everything and pay attention to what’s
around you.
3. Quit
any addictions you have.
4. Give
more attention to all the great things.
5. Learn,
accept your past, and move on.
6. Write
things down to remember them.
7. Be
proud of every little victory.
8. Be
proud of who you are.
9.
Remember that you’re loveable, important and worthy of happiness.
10. Don’t
give up. You’re still young and you have a whole life ahead of you.

On
a business trip to Indonesia, a black male executive took some
time off to play golf. He was playing particularly well when he noticed a group
of locals watching him. They were obviously excited and were shouting, “Tiger
Woods!” Taking this as a compliment to his golfing skills, he grinned and made
an ostentatious bow in their direction. It was at this point that the tiger
came out of the woods and ate him.

Many things have happened in 2023. One of the last sad things
happened on 28 December 2023 was the demise of cine actor and political leader
Mr. Vijaykanth at Chennai. Millions of people from Tamil Nadu assembled to pay
their last respects to him. It was an unforgettable incident. The year has
gone. We are in 2024. We have seen things happened in the world, in our
country, in our state, in our district, in our colony, and in our family. Some
were happy incidents and some other sad and sorrowful events. Anyway we expect
similar or better incidents in 2024. Let’s hope for a better future.

Why must it be done this way?
What is the root problem?
What are the underlying issues?
What does this remind me of?
What is the opposite?
What metaphor or symbol helps to explain it?
Why is it important?
What’s the hardest or most expensive way to do it?
Who has a different perspective on this?
What happens if we don’t do it at all?
The French started this trend-coloration (coloring
to de-stress). Adult color books are selling more than cookbooks. Researchers
have now scientifically proven that coloring has the same effect on the brain
as deep breathing and meditation. According to psychologist Dr. Stan Rodski, it
makes the brain younger. The experiment showed as people color their brains go
from beta mode (which is around 30 cycles per second), into alpha mode (which
is between 5 and 15 cycles per second). The brain goes into a slow and
relaxation mode.
Even though human
beings are bestowed with tremendous potential powers and also with the
availability of all those things in this world which can make them happy, most
of the people are unhappy and unsuccessful. There are broadly five important
traits of unsuccessful and unhappy people, because of which they are not able
to lead a satisfactory life and enjoy happiness.
1.
They are always complaining: These people are never happy with
anything they have got and with what is happening around them. They always
complain for everything which is happening around them. If it rains they
complain about the rain and when the sun shines, they complain about the harsh
sunshine. When they fail at something, they complain about others’
non-cooperation and when they fall sick they complain about bad food,
pollution, contaminated water, cloudy weather, disturbing sound in the
neighborhood etc.
2.
They act before they think: People act impulsively and later on
regret their actions. They do not weigh the pros and cons of their
actions/decisions and when they fail or face obstructions they repent their
decisions.
3.
They talk more and listen less: People have the habit of talking too much
and not listening to others. They do not realize that when we talk, it is based
on what is known to us, but what we listen to others, we listen to what they
know and may come cross something we were previously unaware of. Since they do
not listen to others, their growth comes to a standstill and because of
excessive talk others maintain their distance from them.
4.
People dwell in the past: They remember painful incidents from the
past and in the process miss out on enjoying the present. They judge everything
that happens in their life based on past experiences, thus unconsciously,
accumulating more pain in the present.
5.
People give up easily: They get easily disappointed and
depressed. They have no strength to face failures and lose self-confidence at
the drop of a hat. They have low patience and they harbor negative feelings
about their future. They do not realize that patience and perseverance are keys
to success.
Always
remember, happy and successful ones are not those who get the best of
everything in life but those who make the best of everything they
get in life. – Satguru Rameshji
