MEMO FROM NARA...

Every short story ends with a moral. Even a novel is written to illustrate explicitly the truth of human life. The great Epics like Ramayana and Mahabarata are known to teach good things of life. People know that very well, but unfortunately following those good things is not happening. Elders always remind the young people the importance of those famous stories and morals. But everyone listens to those stories and do not try to follow the teachings. Therefore we see anarchy in our society which is highly divided as rich and poor.

Religion is one that divided the people of the World as Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. Such divisions have created a kind of hatred among them. All these religions tell stories in order to change the minds of people towards love and affection. Only a minority of the population like to follow the teachings and lead a civilized and peaceful life. But majority of human beings indulge in all types of unacceptable habits and behaviours.

Children in schools learn from their teachers many stories with high moral values. They repeat them to remind the morals. But unfortunately those morals remain only as morals not practiced. The reason is quite obvious. In our society there are all kinds of people with diverse background. To cope up with such people and their children is a major problem. However many children are transformed at school level, they fall a prey to the surroundings and the people live in those surroundings. How to change it? Obviously it is very difficult because the disparity between such groups of people is far wide. Parents are responsible to bring up the children with good morals and values. But if the parents themselves are not following the moral values, then how the children will change in spite of good school education. It is a big problem the teachers face today. The teachers always instruct the parents to take care of their wards to follow what they taught in the class room. Unless parents are careful to transform their children as good citizens of the world it becomes very difficult for anyone to solve the problem of unrest in the world.

Every day we come across cruel happenings all over the world. Unimaginable, uncivilized, shocking events are seen everywhere. How to control it and to create a social order in the future? Sociologists are working on various issues. They should consider the social behaviours of people for a peaceful life on our planet. Instead of preaching high ideals, it is better to teach how to lead a simple life with high thinking. Those who are involved in transforming society through spirituality and religious piousness should concentrate on social order and creation of a better society for the future.
