The brain contains 36
billion nerve cells, or neurons, which are in constant action. Neurons are
connected to each other by synapses that act as cognitive bridges. These
synapses use chemicals called neurotransmitters to carry signals from one
neuron to the next. And because each neuron transmits between one and twenty
signals every ten seconds, you’re using trillions of signals just to absorb the
information.
