NARA'S NOTEPAD
VOLUME 21
JANUARY 2024
NUMBER 1
Many things have happened in 2023. One of the last sad things
happened on 28 December 2023 was the demise of cine actor and political leader
Mr. Vijaykanth at Chennai. Millions of people from Tamil Nadu assembled to pay
their last respects to him. It was an unforgettable incident. The year has
gone. We are in 2024. We have seen things happened in the world, in our
country, in our state, in our district, in our colony, and in our family. Some
were happy incidents and some other sad and sorrowful events. Anyway we expect
similar or better incidents in 2024. Let’s hope for a better future.

SUNRISE
As
dawn embrace, the night unveils,
A
quite world, where darkness pales,
A
golden promise on the brink,
As
morning’s breath begins to link.
The
sky aglow with hues so bright,
Painting
the heavens with sheer delight,
The
sun ascends, a fiery sphere,
Is
gentle warmth, now drawing near.
Awakening
Earth in hues of gold,
Stories
of wonder yet untold,
Birdsongs
weave through morning’s mist,
A
symphony no soul can resist.
With
each new ray, a world reborn,
Hope
in the light of each morn,
The
sunrise whispers, dreams take flight,
A
canvas anew, with endless light.
Why must it be done this way?
What is the root problem?
What are the underlying issues?
What does this remind me of?
What is the opposite?
What metaphor or symbol helps to explain it?
Why is it important?
What’s the hardest or most expensive way to do it?
Who has a different perspective on this?
What happens if we don’t do it at all?
The French started this trend-coloration (coloring
to de-stress). Adult color books are selling more than cookbooks. Researchers
have now scientifically proven that coloring has the same effect on the brain
as deep breathing and meditation. According to psychologist Dr. Stan Rodski, it
makes the brain younger. The experiment showed as people color their brains go
from beta mode (which is around 30 cycles per second), into alpha mode (which
is between 5 and 15 cycles per second). The brain goes into a slow and
relaxation mode.
Even though human
beings are bestowed with tremendous potential powers and also with the
availability of all those things in this world which can make them happy, most
of the people are unhappy and unsuccessful. There are broadly five important
traits of unsuccessful and unhappy people, because of which they are not able
to lead a satisfactory life and enjoy happiness.
1.
They are always complaining: These people are never happy with
anything they have got and with what is happening around them. They always
complain for everything which is happening around them. If it rains they
complain about the rain and when the sun shines, they complain about the harsh
sunshine. When they fail at something, they complain about others’
non-cooperation and when they fall sick they complain about bad food,
pollution, contaminated water, cloudy weather, disturbing sound in the
neighborhood etc.
2.
They act before they think: People act impulsively and later on
regret their actions. They do not weigh the pros and cons of their
actions/decisions and when they fail or face obstructions they repent their
decisions.
3.
They talk more and listen less: People have the habit of talking too much
and not listening to others. They do not realize that when we talk, it is based
on what is known to us, but what we listen to others, we listen to what they
know and may come cross something we were previously unaware of. Since they do
not listen to others, their growth comes to a standstill and because of
excessive talk others maintain their distance from them.
4.
People dwell in the past: They remember painful incidents from the
past and in the process miss out on enjoying the present. They judge everything
that happens in their life based on past experiences, thus unconsciously,
accumulating more pain in the present.
5.
People give up easily: They get easily disappointed and
depressed. They have no strength to face failures and lose self-confidence at
the drop of a hat. They have low patience and they harbor negative feelings
about their future. They do not realize that patience and perseverance are keys
to success.
Always
remember, happy and successful ones are not those who get the best of
everything in life but those who make the best of everything they
get in life. – Satguru Rameshji

For years, three violin makers co-existed on the
same block in Cremona, Italy. Then one day, the Amati family put a sign in
their shop window saying “We make the best violins in Italy.” The Guarneri
family soon put a sign in their window proclaiming: “We make the best violins
in the world.” Finally, the Stradivarius family responded with this sign: “We
make the best violin on the block.”

third world country? They take the bribe and then actually do what they
promised.
