For years, three violin makers co-existed on the
same block in Cremona, Italy. Then one day, the Amati family put a sign in
their shop window saying “We make the best violins in Italy.” The Guarneri
family soon put a sign in their window proclaiming: “We make the best violins
in the world.” Finally, the Stradivarius family responded with this sign: “We
make the best violin on the block.”
What’s an honest politician in a
third world country? They take the bribe and then actually do what they
promised.
